I would encourage to start a discussion about the activity and its charter with 

* Berg
  http://bergcloud.com/about
* Google Creative Lab
  http://www.creativelab5.com/
* Frog Design 
  http://www.frogdesign.com/
* Kixl
  http://uniform.net/about/

And a few others, they will add a different perspective and not just the protocols. Some of these have amazing hackers such as Berg for example.
