Paul,

Yes, there are many standards, specs and proposals around (and yes, I
think I got a quite good overview on what is available when I
participated in the W3C Multimedia Semantics Incubator group [1] :)

Sorry for not making this clearer in the first place, but my  principle
question was not really which format to use, right now. It was rather:
How can the *interlinking* be done? Take for example Yves work (in
audio) or ours (still images).  My hypothesis is that the current
available interlinking algorithms (focusing on textual resources) are
not sufficient and/or suitable regarding multimedia resources. Now, we
need to drill deeper, I guess. One of the proposals is to use User
Contributed Interlinking, but there is a lot more out there, I hope ;)
