Note also that ws is commonly used to denote Web Service.
For example:

While you will never avoid all name clashes, it would be desirable
to avoid a clash within the same field of endeavour.

Perhaps  wskt  would be a better scheme name for WebSocKeT, unless
here are any objections from Wichita Southeast Kansas Transit Inc
http://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/Wichita+Southeast+Kansas+Transit+Inc.
(note wsock is already used for winSock drivers).
