I still have issues regarding the relationship of this work to other specifications and policy requirements, but I would prefer to read other peoples' use cases before deciding whether those concerns remain valid. (I gave an example at our last meeting regarding caption preferences and their overlap with timed text formats that the UA can handle according to the user's need without any cooperation from the Web application and hence without any need for an expressed preference. Open captions would of course require support from the application, and there may be an argument for this based on use cases that timed text doesn't address. Other examples are similar, which is why I would rather wait for the use cases.) > I have not included the more subjective, less > clear preferences proposed (like “simple interface” and “prefers tactile”). Simplification requirements, in my view, are inadequately met by other work and comprise a crucial area in which IndieUI can be of great practical benefit. I would support analyzing and specifying these preferences more precisely; I know there's a separate discussion about whether they should be postponed to a later version, and I don't wish to enter that discussion here.
