The minutes of Thursday's discussion with the TTML group are now available at https://www.w3.org/2017/03/23-tt-minutes.html#item02 (the item about tbrl defaults is a little way down the page). You'll see that i wasn't able to convince the group to change the default for tbrl writing mode so that lines next to mongolian vertical text and ruby appear automatically to the right of the line when writingMode:tblr is used. However, they did agree to include a note in the spec that tells Mongolian users how to set their styling so that this happens. ri
