JLreq TF meeting notes 2023-7-11

JLReq TF 登録手続きについて（下農、木田）

タスクフォースのミーティングに参加するには本来は正式な PARTICIPANT*1 として登録する必要がある。JLReq TF のミーティングにアクティブに参加していただいている人たちに、可能ならこの手続きをお願いしたい。これによってW3Cに正式にアカウントができ、W3C のサイトや W3C GitHub へのアクセスが得られる。ミーティングの URL を個別に知らせる必要がなくなる。

*1 タスクフォースへの参加には、LIST SUBSCRIBER, PARTICIPANT, EDITOR, CAIR/CO-CAIR、と4レベルあり、それぞれに責任と可能なことが分かれている。

ミーティングの中で、PARTICIPANT になっているにもかかわらず GitHub の権限がない人がいることがわかった。下農さんが手動で編集権限を足さなければならないとのこと。

simple-rubyの残処理の確認（木田・下農）

todo: 木田が i18n WG に方針を伝え了承を得る。

その後、下農さんが現在用意のできている変更をマージする。GH はあるが用意のできていないものは処理しない。


Open Font Format 5th edition 会議からアップデート（CITPC 村田）

以下のことをWG3にrecommendすることになった。

avar2をOFF 5th editionのWDに取り込む
16ビットの制限を超えるための拡張を今後6ヶ月から9ヶ月にわたって優先して取り組む
他の拡張（glyfへの三次元ベジエとvariable component)は、その後に議論する。
TypeCon2023(8/17から19)のときに対面会議を行うことになった。
GoogleのDave Crosslandが、来年は日本で対面会議を開こうとチャットで提案した。

jlreq-d目次案レビュー（木田）

開発方針案、章立てに特に異論なし。進むに従って見直す。

第一章のタイトル、日本語学をカバーするような印象を与えるのを避け、また国語学者に突っ込まれないように、組版に範囲を絞るようなものにする

「1.6 印刷とデジタルの違い」は「0. はじめに」にあるべきでは？ → 簡潔に含める。内容が決まってきてから、1.6 にするか「はじめに」の一部で収まるか決める。

「1.6 印刷とデジタルの違い」はもっと詳しい内容が必要かも。→その場合、二章以降に一つ章を作ろう。とりあえず「8. 固定レイアウトとリフローレイアウトとの違い」を作った。

Wiki の上で各自自由にコメントを書き込んで進めてゆこう。

JLReq TF Registration Procedure (Shimono, Kida)

In order to participate in the Task Force meeting, you should register as a PARTICIPANT*1. We would like those who are actively participating in the JLReq TF meetings to complete this process provided that they agree. This will allow them to have an official account with W3C, which will give them access to the W3C site and W3C GitHub. It eliminates the need to individually notify meeting URLs.

*1 There are four levels of participation at the Task Force, namely, LIST SUBSCRIBER, PARTICIPANT, EDITOR, CAIR/CO-CAIR, each with its own responsibilities and possible actions.

During the meeting, it was found that there were people who were PARTICIPANTS but did not have W3C GitHub permissions. Shimono-san will need to manually add editing permissions.

Finalizing the simple-ruby (Kida & Shimono)

todo: Kida will communicate the decision to i18n WG and obtain approval.

Afterwards, Shimono-san will merge the changes that are currently ready. GH issues that have not been resolved will not be processed.

Update from the Open Font Format 5th edition meeting (CITPC Murata)

The following were recommended to WG3.

Incorporate avar2 into the OFF 5th edition WD
Prioritize expanding beyond the 16-bit limit over the next 6 to 9 months
Other extensions (3D Bezier to glyf and variable component) will be discussed later.
A face-to-face meeting will be held during TypeCon2023 (from 8/17 to 19).
Dave Crossland from Google proposed via chat to host a face-to-face meeting in Japan next year.
jlreq-d table of contents draft review (Kida)

No particular objections to the development policy and the chapter structure. Revisit as we make progress.
The title of the first chapter should be something that limits the scope to typesetting so as not to be confused that we are discussing Japanese language in general, and thus critiqued by linguists.
Shouldn't "1.6 Differences between Printing and Digital" be covered in "0. Introduction"? → Include it briefly. Once the content is decided, determine whether it will be 1.6 or part of "Introduction".
"1.6 Differences between Printing and Digital" may need more detailed content. → In that case, let’s create a separate chapter. For now, we have created "8. Differences between Fixed Layout and Reflow Layout".
Let’s do the work directory on the Wiki.
