An Introduction

Hello!

In yesterday’s call, Arle asked if I would introduce myself. So here it is.

In October I started a part-time PhD at Trinity College in Dublin, remotely from England. I joined the Interoperability and Analytics research area at CNGL, where Dave Lewis is my esteemed supervisor. Before embarking on this adventure I was a student on Reinhard Schäler’s MSc in Multilingual Computing and Localisation at the University of Limerick, from which I can happily say I graduated from yesterday with first class honours. As for my day job, I am doing lots of cool stuff as the Internationalisation Architect at Cisco. I am also a partner in a start-up that specialises in localisation education, and earlier this year I ignited an internationalisation consultancy. There is even a little time to squeeze in some voluntary work for Translators without Borders.

I joined the ITS Interest Group so that I may possibly contribute to the further development of ITS through my investigations and research into the application of media meta-data to ITS, based upon the W3C ontology for media resources.
