Re: ITS Teleconference - Jul-26-2011

Hi Christian,

some thoughts on both proposals.

The locale specific content text differs in terms of usage from xml:lang. I
guess it will not differ in terms of values: it would still contain a BCP 47
language tags. Also, one could encourage the "u" extension for language
tags, see http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6067

The "transliteration / NLP content" data category seems to miss information
about the source and the target of the transformation. Again, here one could
point to the yet to be finalized BCP 47 extension for
http://tools.ietf.org/html//draft-davis-t-langtag-ext-03 . That is, one
could add an attribute to the "its:autoLanguageProcessingRule" element,
describing the relation between the source and the target of the
transformation, with values like

 +---------------------+---------------------------------------------+
   | Language Tag | Description |
   +---------------------+---------------------------------------------+
   | ja-t-it | The content is Japanese, transformed from |
   | | Italian. |
   | ja-Kana-t-it | The content is Japanese Katakana, |
   | | transformed from Italian. |
   | und-Latn-t-und-cyrl | The content is in the Latin script, |
   | | transformed from the Cyrillic script. |
   +---------------------+---------------------------------------------+

Both proposals are along the lines of "trying to keep similar developments
together".

Best,

Felix
