Any XML editors should support ITS. I've used XMLSpy and oXygen for DITA files with ITS markup without problems for example. Yes, you may have to modify the schema of the host format to allow for ITS markup. Simple diff algorithms should provide you with the sequences to highlight. A starting point could be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_searching_algorithm I don't know any library that does directly compare and highlight, but other may. -ys
