Getting these two change proposals updated by Thu Aug 9 fits with our current schedule for ISSUE-164. /paulc HTML WG co-chair Paul Cotton, Microsoft Canada 17 Eleanor Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K2E 6A3 Tel: (425) 705-9596 Fax: (425) 936-7329 From: Steve Faulkner [mailto:faulkner.steve@gmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2012 2:05 PM To: Paul Cotton Cc: public-html@w3.org Subject: Re: Review of ISSUE-164 change proposals - Part 4: Remove hgroup add an outlineMask attribute Hi Paul , I would appreciate it if I could get some extra time for the updating of the 2 change proposals. I originally commited to having the proposals (subline and outlinemask) complete by tomorrow, but while I have made progress with the first proposal it is still not complete and have yet to work on the second. I am on vacation this week and family commitments have overtaken my voluntary HTML WG commitments. I therefore request that I be given until next thursday to complete the updates. regards Stevef On 25 July 2012 00:10, Paul Cotton <Paul.Cotton@microsoft.com<mailto:Paul.Cotton@microsoft.com>> wrote: We have five change proposals for ISSUE-164: http://dev.w3.org/html5/status/issue-status.html#ISSUE-164 The following is a Chairs review of the following change proposal: Remove hgroup add an outlineMask attribute http://www.w3.org/html/wg/wiki/ChangeProposals/OutlineMask 1. Structure of change proposal The proposal includes an appropriate Summary (actually entitled "Change Proposal"), Rationale, Details and Impact (only Risk are provided). 2. General comments on change proposal a) Rationale Several other Change Proposals make assertions about the implementation experience of <hgroup>. Your Rationale would be stronger if you mentioned this item to give your position relative to the implementation experience of <hgroup>. b) Details It would be much better if the supplied Details section was written more in the style of a new section for the proposed outlineMask attribute. It may not be obvious to the CP reader or to the Editor if you have given all the material needed for the new outlineMask attribute you are proposing. If this new attribute can only be used on the <h1> ... <h6> elements then surely the Details should indicate changes to Section 4.4.6 "The h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, and h6 elements" In addition, these Details are possibly inadequate. If these instructions imply that just Section 4.4.7 "The hgroup element" should be removed then they omit the other mentions to <hgroup> in the HTML5 specification. In addition the detail to add the proposed outlineMask attribute omits any indication if outlineMask attribute should be added to any other sections in the document to replace the <hgroup> occurrences. Please let the Chairs know by Tue Jul 31 if you plan to revise your change proposal and when you can do the revision by. /paulc HTML WG co-chair [1] http://dev.w3.org/html5/spec/single-page.html#the-hgroup-element Paul Cotton, Microsoft Canada 17 Eleanor Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K2E 6A3 Tel: (425) 705-9596<tel:%28425%29%20705-9596> Fax: (425) 936-7329<tel:%28425%29%20936-7329> -- with regards Steve Faulkner Technical Director - TPG www.paciellogroup.com<http://www.paciellogroup.com> | www.HTML5accessibility.com<http://www.HTML5accessibility.com> | www.twitter.com/stevefaulkner<http://www.twitter.com/stevefaulkner> HTML5: Techniques for providing useful text alternatives - dev.w3.org/html5/alt-techniques/<http://dev.w3.org/html5/alt-techniques/> Web Accessibility Toolbar - www.paciellogroup.com/resources/wat-ie-about.html <http://www.paciellogroup.com/resources/wat-ie-about.html>
