http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=12613 Summary: spec guidance on adding new link types to the microformats wiki page does not match the format of that wiki page Product: HTML WG Version: unspecified Platform: PC OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: HTML5 spec (editor: Ian Hickson) AssignedTo: ian@hixie.ch ReportedBy: mike@w3.org QAContact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org CC: mike@w3.org, public-html-wg-issue-tracking@w3.org, public-html@w3.org Problem: The spec currently says, "Anyone is free to edit the Microformats wiki existing-rel-values page at any time to add a type. Extension types must be specified with the following information:", and then has a list with some categories of information that are expected to be provided for each link type; for example, "Keyword", "Effect on", "Brief description", "Synonyms". But the format of the wiki pages does not match those categorizations. http://dev.w3.org/html5/spec/links.html#other-link-types http://microformats.org/wiki/existing-rel-values Suggestion solution: I suggest we don't bother trying to make the language of the spec here match the wiki closely, but instead, drop then entire list from the spec and replace it with a single sentence such as "To add new types to that wiki page, follow the instructions on that page.", and leave it to the maintainers of that page to provide guidance on how to add new information to it. (There are in fact no existing instructions on that page, but hopefully the maintainers can add some.) -- Configure bugmail: http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
