Dear Advisory Committee representative, This is a W3C Patent Policy Call for Exclusions for the following Recommendation Track document: - HTML Microdata (http://www.w3.org/TR/microdata/), exclusion opportunity ending on 24 October 2010 23:59 UTC This specification was produced by the HTML Working Group. If you do not wish to exclude patent claims during this exclusion opportunity, no further action is required. Notes on this exclusion opportunity: * This specification was originally part of HTML5. It was published as a standalone specification in March. * The material of this specification has not been part of a previous 150-day exclusion opportunity. (The same may not be true for other standalone specifications split off from the HTML5 specification.) * Therefore, we are starting one explicitly for this material, treating this draft as though it were a FPWD from the perspective of the W3C Patent Policy. Participants made a Royalty-Free licensing commitment upon joining this Working Group. With the publication of this document, per section 4.1 of the Patent Policy [1] Participants have an opportunity until 24 October 2010 23:59 UTC to exclude patent claims reading on this Recommendation track document. Excluded claims are not subject to the licensing requirements of the W3C Patent Policy for this document. For more information about exclusions, please see http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Patent-Policy-20040205/#sec-Exclusion To make exclusions, please use the following form: http://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/40318/exclude The Patent Policy anticipates that the document will evolve during the 90 days following the first publication. Per section 4.1 of the Patent Policy [1], whatever draft is available on 15 August 2010 establishes the reference material [3] for the purposes of this exclusion opportunity. Just after 15 August 2010, we will send a reminder and identify the reference draft. Due to the anticipated instability of the document prior to 15 August 2010, Participants may wish to exclude any claims only after publication of the reference draft (and no later than the end of the exclusion opportunity). Per section 4.2 of the Patent Policy [2], a Participant may resign from the Working Group before 15 August 2010 and be excused from all licensing commitments arising out of Working Group participation. To resign from the Working Group before 15 August 2010, please use the following form: http://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/40318/join Summary information for this group related to the W3C Patent Policy is available at: http://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/40318/status If you have any questions or need further information, please contact, for the HTML Working Group: * Michael(tm) Smith at mike@w3.org For more information on the W3C Patent Policy and patent claim exclusions, see: http://www.w3.org/2003/12/22-pp-faq Thank you, For Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director; Ian Jacobs, Head of W3C Communications [1] http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Patent-Policy-20040205/#sec-exclusion-with [2] http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Patent-Policy-20040205/#sec-exclusion-resign [3] http://www.w3.org/2003/12/22-pp-faq#exclusion-date -- Ian Jacobs (ij@w3.org) http://www.w3.org/People/Jacobs/ Tel: +1 718 260 9447
