           Summary: Image should have getContext(...) just like canvas
           Product: HTML WG
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows NT
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: HTML5 spec (editor: Ian Hickson)
        AssignedTo: ian@hixie.ch
        ReportedBy: warcraftthreeft@sbcglobal.net
         QAContact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org
                CC: mike@w3.org, public-html-wg-issue-tracking@w3.org,
                    public-html@w3.org
This would remove the problem of having to generate new canvases and render an
image to them to do trivial operations like getting the ImageData.
var image = new Image();
var imageData;
image.onload = function()
{
    imageData = image.getContext("2d").getImageData(0, 0, image.width,
image.height);
}
image.src = "example.png";
