Actually, to avoid regressing the parsing performance of existing XHT= ML 1.0 pages, the public ids that currently only load the XHTML 1.0 entiti= es should probably continue to point to XHTML 1.0 entity set. yes if it is noticable performance difference and the document explictly references a dtd that you have (or could have) built in support for it makes sense to use that I agree.
