Sam Ruby and Dan Connolly asked me to send proposed issue closures in individual emails, with clear subject lines, and Cc'd to the issue originator when possible. Apologies for the spam. If there are no objections, I will close this issue on 2009-09-03. ------------ ISSUE-54: doctype-legacy-compat - tools that can't generate <!DOCTYPE html> http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/54 As I understand it, we have consensus on the solution to this issue, which is <!DOCTYPE HTML SYSTEM "about:legacy-compat">. The spec has been updated to include this option. As far as I know, the only reason this issue is open is for some action on registering the about: URI scheme. There is an Internet-Draft (last updated 8/12) for the about: URI scheme: http://www.ietf.org/id/draft-holsten-about-uri-scheme-02.txt I believe no further action is needed for HTML5 Last Call. The progress and details of this Internet-Draft should now be tracked via the IETF. Since we have consensus on ISSUE-54 itself, we should close it. If anyone knows of a reason that further progress on the registration should block HTML5 Last Call, I suggest we raise a new issue to track whatever concretely needs to happen with the registration.
