ISSUE-122 (shalott-example): alt text and description for Lady of Shalott example [alt techniques] http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/122 Raised by: Ian Hickson On product: alt techniques The "Lady of Shalott" example in the alt techniques document is disputed. It has been argued that it's improperly labeled, and that the image should be considered purely decorative rather than "enhance[ing] the themes or subject matter of the page content", and that it should be given empty alt text rather than a brief description. The scope of this issue is the Lady of Shalott example, and in particular, the alt text used in it, the description of this example, and any other closely related matters.
