Dear all, The W3C Team received an appeal request, from W3C Member Electronic Frontier Foundation, of the W3C decision [1] to publish the Encrypted Media Extensions (EME) specification as a W3C Recommendation. The W3C Advisory Committee survey whether to appeal the decision succeeded in having >5% of the Membership requesting an appeal vote. The Team anticipates starting the appeal vote mid-August, with the survey lasting 4 weeks. Members will have an option to vote Approve/Reject/Abstain on the W3C decision. If the vote to reject the decision to advance EME to W3C Recommendation succeeds then further conversation will be held with the membership and HTML Media Extensions Working Group about next steps; if the vote fails then normal publication of the W3C Recommendation will happen at a later date. Thank you, Coralie Mercier, Head of W3C Marketing & Communications [1] https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-media/2017Jul/0000.html -- Coralie Mercier - W3C Marketing & Communications - https://www.w3.org mailto:coralie@w3.org +336 4322 0001 https://www.w3.org/People/CMercier/
