I should probably add that if video/audio are not expanded to include param as
a child, then content authors (and external HTML5 profile specs) will likely
end up using object for this purpose, in which case they will lose the
accessibility support brought by timed text track support.

As a consequence, by arguing that we should use object, you are effectively
reducing accessibility. I doubt if that's what you desire, but that will be a
practical effect of your position.
