A November 6 bug snapshot is at: http://www.w3.org/WAI/PF/HTML/wiki/Bugs/New_A11Y_Bug_Snapshot_20101106 A backlog of 85 a11y bugs on the HTML5 Spec await task force decision of whether to apply the a11ytf keyword or not. Details are in section 6. Details are as follows. 1. WONTFIX BUGS: 1.1 Bug 9215: "Provide a Webcam example that is in accord with WCAG 2 or Defer to "HTML5: Techniques for providing useful text alternatives" Reported by Laura Carlson. http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=9215 This bug had previously been marked WONTFIX by Ian on March 29. I bought it to this Task Force's attention on March 30. http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2010Mar/0564.html The bug team reopened this bug on September second with the comment "Bug triage sub-team says this should be reopened to consider advice of accessibility specialists more. Assigning to Steve Faulkner to provide additional info." http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=9215#c16 On October 28 Steve* reassigned it back to Ian. Ian rejected it. Change Description: no spec change Ian's Rationale: No new information since comment 14. "Note that I'll consider advice from anyone, not just self-styled "accessibility specialists", if it makes sense. I'm certainly not going to take anyone's advice when it doesn't make sense, though, whatever their qualifications." http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=9215#c17 *Note: Steve had a separate but related bug (number 9174) on his alt techniques document to add a Webcam example. He did that back in April. Thanks again, Steve. http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=9174 1.2 Bug 10873: "Provide a method of explicitly setting a tooltip for an element" reported by Everett Zufelt. Status: Rejected Change Description: no spec change Ian's Rationale: "see above." http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=10873#c13 2. NEEDSINFO BUGS: 2.1 Bug 10419: "<video> should allow muted as a content attribute" reported by Adrian Bateman. Status: "Did Not Understand Request" Change Description: "no spec change" Rationale: "See comment 19. I'm happy to change this to using muted/.defaultMuted instead of audio="" if other browser vendors agree that it's a better solution. In the meantime, I've left the spec using audio="" since that's the solution that IMHO fulfills the most constraints (including the "don't reflect with a different name" constraint that sicking has been a big proponent for)." http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=10419#c19 3.
