In my capacity as executive director of Open North, I'm currently working with mySociety and the Sunlight Foundation to align the schemas used in our open-source software to existing standards. As part of that effort, I've collected terms from popular standards onto this page:

http://popoloproject.com/data/terms.html

A general overview of existing standards for people/orgs/addresses is given at http://popoloproject.com/data/survey.html

If you are interested, the proposed terms to re-use are at http://popoloproject.com/data.html which includes a JSON serialization. A large number of the reused terms are from the organization ontology :)

I'm hoping this project will increase awareness of W3C's great work within the civic technology and open government nonprofit sector.

Cheers,

James
