Reminder: No W3C GLD WG call Thursday 22-Nov-2012

Hi GLDers,
Welcome to our new members.

Working group members in the US will be involved in an annual tradition celebrated since at least 1863 when President Lincoln proclaimed Thanksgiving a national day to give thanks.

I suggest Squanto should be considered one of America's earliest 'open standards' guys ...

Reflect for a moment on the pilgrims who nearly froze to death before a handful of Native Americans saved them by sharing tips (best practices) on catching eel and growing corn. [1] Thanks be to Squanto, a Patuxet Native American who learned English while enslaved in Europe and during his travels to England. Together with Indian leader Massasoit, the Native Americans donated food to the starving colonists during their first winter when their supplies brought from England proved to be insufficient.

In preparation for our next meeting, Thursday 29-Nov 2012, please have a review of the ADMS vocabulary and other work products that are the working group's deliverables, see http://www.w3.org/2011/gld/wiki/Main_Page#Deliverables

Cheers,

P.S. If anyone is interested in sharing food with some Americans who just homes & jobs as a result of Hurricane Sandy, a worthy organization is the the Food Bank for New York City, http://www.foodbanknyc.org/ Thanks. <end personal post-script>
