At the face to face meeting, we agreed to resolve an issue raised by several people that it was too hard to rely on the host language to add src to instance. Instead, we resolved to add it back to instance, except we would add it as a special attribute to XForms rather than using the 'linking attributes' language from XForms 1.0, which still is a nod to having the host language add src. The results of that merge are now available in the editor's copy, and I would like to send replies on this issue ASAP, so interested parties in the working group need to review the text before the weekend. Silence implies consent! The only hiccup I found in adding the text back is that Steven made a side comment that he thought the failure to resolve src would simply fail gracefully to inline content. In actual fact, the failure of src would produce a fatal exception (xforms-link-exception), so the interest of restoring the prior feature as it was, I retained the xforms-link-exception nature. It is also the case that spec ready text for Steven's version is harder to write. Moreover, there did not seem to be any benefit to changing the behavior, esp. since it wasn't part of the last call comment. Cheers, John M.
