no worries, @nicholascar, you raise a good point: indeed "expression" could be seen to have a more "complete" meaning than other proposals, and that's a big problem. How about "component"? It is used in the [DCMI Singapore Framework](https://www.dublincore.org/specifications/dublin-core/singapore-framework/) and seems to have a tad lighter semantic commitment with respect to the "part vs whole" scale (I know "part" was proposed earlier, and didn't like it myself). But maybe the alignment with the DCMI SF is only partial. In fact PROF "components" may have to be more general than DCMI SF (as the components there are presented as "documentation"). But maybe this would still be alright...
