+1 @RubenVerborgh - as you pointed out elsewhere its the nature of limited mechanisms that they can get re-covered by more general ones. Clients can just use the profile negotiation mechanism if they have it - if an information profile implies a MIME type profile as well then its perfectly legal just to ask for the generic MIME type and receive the matching specific MIME type profile.
