another approach would be to have two properties: 1) an RDF property to cover a small number of generic types of relationships, for interoperability (ideally a required property); 2) an optional 'prof:roleConcept' property populated by skos:concept for semantic precision, that would probably have vocabularies defined by different communities and specified in profiles of prof.  
Admittedly, since it rdf, anyone could include their own role concept property; the advantage of defining a property in the spec is that at least it would be queryable, even if the meaning of the values is not standardized.
