Re: DWBP Audience

Hi Bernadette,
There is no doubt that the idiom ’Strike whilst the iron is hot’ applies to conversation which happens directly post Friday WG calls :)
Thank you for your prompt reply

If I understood correct, I think we should provide best practices for those who consume data on the Web,for example someone who is interested on developing an application that uses data available on the Web to produce a visualization for final users. Does it make sense for you?

It makes sense yes. I think it would work vey well embedded within the document itself. Clarification like what you have provided is extremely helpful.

Yes, the current version is more focused on the data publisher. However, aspects like data enrichment and feedback are related to data consumers. Maybe, later on more aspects related to data consumers will be identified. Do you have any suggestion of how to clarify this?

I am fine with the statement for the time being, I do however feel we should communicate the rough relevance weighting of the document to intended audience. Consumers to Producers, 50% to 50% respectively (this is an example of course). I think we should review this when more content is flushed into the working document. This is my opinion. It will help interpretation significantly.

I agree with you! I'm gonna replace guidance for best practice.

WOW. OK looks like I had my coffee at the right time today :)

I'm not sure if we can use footnotes.

I thought so. They are messy and I was thinking aloud in an attempt to find an appropriate construct.

Maybe, we can be more clear about this on the text, but I'm not sure of how to do this. The aspects are the ones related to vocabularies, but i think it looks strange if we write: "Basic knowledge about vocabularies and ontologies would be helpful to better understand best practices related to vocabularies.”

Do you have a better suggestion?

Yes. We could simply append “Basic knowledge about vocabularies and ontologies would be helpful to better understand best practices related to data vocabularies. Areas of the document where this applies at A, B, C…X, Y, Z”
I do however think that the A,B, C… X, Y, Z elements are not quite concrete enough for us to enter them definitively however placeholders would possibly provide additional clarification at this stage.
If you feel that this is a good idea, I am happy to take on the work to ensure that the placeholders are adequately populated come the right time. This will be based on the provisioning of adequate and relevant content on the the topics of vocabularies and ontologies within the best practices working document.

Thanks again for your comments! This kind of feedback is really important and helpful!

Excellent. Thank you
Lewis
