I second (and fully support) Beatriz’s nomination as co-chair. Cheers, Renato Co-Chair, W3C ODRL Community Group. > On 2 Nov 2025, at 09:05, Harshvardhan Pandit <harshvardhan.pandit@adaptcentre.ie> wrote: > > Hi All. > We have now closed the call for nominations as we are past the deadline (OCT-31). We have 1 nomination by Beatriz Esteves (IMEC-UGent) (see [1][2]) who has proposed adopting a co-chairing model (with myself as the other chair). We will be discussing and confirming this outcome in the next meeting on NOV-05. You are encouraged to attend and participate, and if not, then to share your thoughts via email. I will report back the conclusions from the call in a reply to this email. > > Thank you to all those who engaged with the process, including in the meetings. Thank you to Beatriz for applying, for Art to volunteer as maintainer (which we deal outside the chair selection process), Sarven for sharing considerations and experiences which we will benefit from in the near future. > > [1] https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-dpvcg/2025Oct/0000.html > [2] https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-dpvcg/2025Oct/0007.html > > Regards, > Harsh > > On 23/09/2025 18:24, Harshvardhan Pandit wrote: >> Hi All. >> With DPV v2.2 published and out of the way (thanks to all involved), I think we should now discuss the role of Chair within the DPVCG. I took on this role in JAN 2020, and as of today have been the chair for about 5 years and 9 months. It has been a productive period for me (and I hope the DPVCG). However, we as a group should also discuss whether this should continue or change as the position of chair does not necessitate a permanent or long-term role. >> With this is mind, I'm putting forward a proposal with three options: >> 1) I continue as chair (default if there are no other volunteers, however my position will still need to be confirmed). >> 2) We elect a chair (if there are volunteers). >> 3) We defer the election to another time (as agreed) and invite volunteers to discuss/showcase their vision in the meantime (ideal if we want to have co-chairs with dedicated responsibilities). >> If you wish to volunteer for the role of the chair, please reply to this email (publicly as this needs to be seen and reflected in the group's discussion). **I suggest we invite nominations and discussions until OCT-31, and then take a decision after that**. I also invite further discussion / suggestions / scrutiny regarding this process. >> P.S. I'm happy to stay on as the maintainer for DPV in any case. The role of chair is one of leadership where you direct the group's attentions and discussions, represent the group in other forums, and are the point of contact and its liason for other groups -- in particular for the W3C's activities regarding standardisation. If you want to know more about what is involved, please ask me for details. >> Regards, > > -- > --- > Harshvardhan J.
