Dear all, Moving forward, and acknowledging that the following reflects my personal vision for DPV, I would like to propose the establishment of co-chair positions with dedicated areas of focus and corresponding responsibilities. In this regard, I would like to express my interest in volunteering for one of the co-chair roles. Below, I outline the areas in which I would be keen to contribute. At the same time, I would like to express my strong support for Harsh continuing as a co-chair, should he wish to do so. Harsh has demonstrated exceptional leadership over the years and has played a pivotal role in shaping the quality and visibility of DPV as it stands today. I would also encourage others to consider volunteering for leadership roles in areas of particular interest to them, potentially as additional co-chairs. With respect to the topics I am interested in leading or contributing to, they include: * Exploring purpose compatibility in the context of the GDPR, as well as under other regulatory frameworks such as the EHDS Regulation. * Investigating the use of legal bases beyond consent for personal data exchange — including identifying which data–purpose combinations (and potentially other parameters) may be permitted under certain legal grounds, and developing related guidance. * Continuing to extend DPV to cover additional legislation, notably the EHDS and the Data Act. * Aligning DPV with other relevant standards — in addition to ODRL, I believe efforts should be made to align with DCAT, PROV, and other frameworks that are widely adopted in data spaces and distributed solutions. I would be happy to discuss any of these points further and to hear others’ thoughts and suggestions. Kind regards, Beatriz From: Harshvardhan Pandit <harshvardhan.pandit@adaptcentre.ie> Date: Tuesday, 23 September 2025 at 19:24 To: public-dpvcg@w3.org <public-dpvcg@w3.org> Subject: Call for DPVCG Chair Hi All. With DPV v2.2 published and out of the way (thanks to all involved), I think we should now discuss the role of Chair within the DPVCG. I took on this role in JAN 2020, and as of today have been the chair for about 5 years and 9 months. It has been a productive period for me (and I hope the DPVCG). However, we as a group should also discuss whether this should continue or change as the position of chair does not necessitate a permanent or long-term role. With this is mind, I'm putting forward a proposal with three options: 1) I continue as chair (default if there are no other volunteers, however my position will still need to be confirmed). 2) We elect a chair (if there are volunteers). 3) We defer the election to another time (as agreed) and invite volunteers to discuss/showcase their vision in the meantime (ideal if we want to have co-chairs with dedicated responsibilities). If you wish to volunteer for the role of the chair, please reply to this email (publicly as this needs to be seen and reflected in the group's discussion). **I suggest we invite nominations and discussions until OCT-31, and then take a decision after that**. I also invite further discussion / suggestions / scrutiny regarding this process. P.S. I'm happy to stay on as the maintainer for DPV in any case. The role of chair is one of leadership where you direct the group's attentions and discussions, represent the group in other forums, and are the point of contact and its liason for other groups -- in particular for the W3C's activities regarding standardisation. If you want to know more about what is involved, please ask me for details. Regards, -- --- Harshvardhan J.
