Nick, Mats At the time we did have a summary of the rationale for discontinuing the WebIntents work, we might want to make it more visible. The summary is in the following message (and the response regarding resuming below) https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-web-intents/2013Mar/0000.html (21 March 2013) This was followed by a CfC to shelve: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-web-intents/2013May/0002.html (8 May 2013) and publication of the WebIntents Note: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-web-intents/2013May/0006.html (23 May 2013) Later we asked whether to revisit and decided not to: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-web-intents/2014Jul/0000.html (2 July 2014 re revisiting) I think the two messages cover the rationale. I hope this helps. The mailing list archive will remain, not sure if posting will work or not (probably a decision to make). regards, Frederick Frederick Hirsch Chair, W3C Device APIs WG (DAP) www.fjhirsch.com @fjhirsch > On Oct 19, 2015, at 7:04 PM, Nick Doty <npdoty@w3.org> wrote: > > >> On Oct 15, 2015, at 11:32 AM, Mats Wichmann <mats@osg.samsung.com> wrote: >> >> On 10/15/2015 10:32 AM, Frederick Hirsch wrote: >>> This is a Call for Consensus (CfC) to close the Web Intents Task Force [1]. >> >> It's clear the task force has been inactive, and with no deliverable in >> the charter I will send a +1 on closing. > > +1 > >> Having been under a flood of other stuff I haven't been around much for >> a while now. That is, let's try to help the people who are struggling with the same problem and hear about Web Intents to see the extent of past and ongoing work. > > Also, the mailing list archive will remain; will the mailing list continue (for example for discussions of alternatives) or will it be shut down? > > Thanks, > Nick
