[Replying to self.] Mozilla is in process of updating its implementation to match the latest promise-based API, see [1]. Also, yesterday, an “Intent to Ship” [2] was sent to the blink-dev mailing list, signalling the promise-based API would be enabled in Chrome by default. With these recent advancements, it seems we're converging toward the promise-based API, and should think about publishing the revised API soon. I suggest we wait and bake in Mozilla’s implementation feedback (if any) before publishing an updated LC (and address the open issues in the tracker).
