Yes, there has been discussions on this topic at the mailing list and the interpretation of what we actually agreed and when we should start to work at things was not really clear to me. However, if this is the common understanding of the WG this is fine with me and I do not want to race the work with a generic sensor API. Thanks for documenting the resolution at the web site Dom. 
So let us work on the draft "System Information & Events API" (thanks for your work Dzung) before any generic API.

That’s my recollection as well, although I haven’t found a clear WG
resolution on the topic; but based on that recollection, I have added
the “generic sensor API” in the list of future work for DAP:
