I not sure how you've read this from that comment, tbh.

What I've been trying to do is get everyone on the same page with making a distinction between option 2 and 3 (as so far this had been conflated, notably in the pull requests you made).

I agree that there are other options we could/should explore (such as splitting sensor and observer into two different objects as mentioned above).
