@maryammjd the problem is that no one is ever going to say they need access to a given API for nefarious purposes, so they'll come up with other explanations instead.

Connecting this to a machine readable privacy policy would be useful, but that's really out of scope of this work. This would involve the user deciding on e.g. data retention policies they agree with, the website publishing its privacy policies in a machine-readable way, and the user agent brokering between the two.
