Hajime, http://test.csswg.org/suites/css-writing-modes-3_dev/nightly-unstable/html/vertical-alignment-009-lr.htm http://test.csswg.org/source/css-writing-modes-3/vertical-alignment-009-lr.xht http://test.csswg.org/suites/css-writing-modes-3_dev/nightly-unstable/html/vertical-alignment-009-rl.htm http://test.csswg.org/source/css-writing-modes-3/vertical-alignment-009-rl.xht I see many problems and difficulties in those tests and with those tests that probably make those tests not rehabilitatable, not improvable. I believe those tests are not correct and, the good news is, I think they should just be removed. *If* we need to test 'vertical-align: sub' and 'vertical-align: super', then we can create 2 manual tests (4 tests or even 8 tests since we would want to be testing each 2 vertical writing-modes and at least 3 text-orientation: sideways-left, sideways-right and upright) with, say, water's chemical formula H20 and geometry equation a²+b²=c² like in http://www.gtalbot.org/DHTMLSection/vertical-align-values.html and then ask the tester if the "2" is on the left/right of H and O and if the 2s are on the left/right of "a", "b" and "c". In the CSS2.1 test suite, we use 2 manual tests for testing 'vertical-align: sub' and 'vertical-align: super': http://test.csswg.org/suites/css2.1/20110323/html4/vertical-align-115.htm http://test.csswg.org/suites/css2.1/20110323/html4/vertical-align-116.htm For your information: " The Ahem font has a subscript Y offset in its OS2 table of 143 (on a 1000 grid) and a superscript Y offset of 453. (...) [there is] no requirement for using the font's metrics for subscript and superscript offsets. " vertical-align-115/116 invalid http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-css-testsuite/2010Oct/0236.html [Addendum: I just noticed 2 other tests involving Ahem font and 'vertical-align: sub' http://test.csswg.org/suites/css-writing-modes-3_dev/nightly-unstable/html/vertical-alignment-006-lr.htm http://test.csswg.org/suites/css-writing-modes-3_dev/nightly-unstable/html/vertical-alignment-006-rl.htm ] Gérard -- Test Format Guidelines http://testthewebforward.org/docs/test-format-guidelines.html Test Style Guidelines http://testthewebforward.org/docs/test-style-guidelines.html Test Templates http://testthewebforward.org/docs/test-templates.html CSS Naming Guidelines http://testthewebforward.org/docs/css-naming.html Test Review Checklist http://testthewebforward.org/docs/review-checklist.html CSS Metadata http://testthewebforward.org/docs/css-metadata.html
