Hello, I've spent a lot of time on commenting [nightly-unstable] http://test.csswg.org/suites/css2.1/nightly-unstable/html4/fixed-table-layout-003c07.htm [nightly-unstable] http://test.csswg.org/suites/css2.1/nightly-unstable/html4/fixed-table-layout-003c08.htm [nightly-unstable] http://test.csswg.org/suites/css2.1/nightly-unstable/html4/fixed-table-layout-003c09.htm [nightly-unstable] http://test.csswg.org/suites/css2.1/nightly-unstable/html4/fixed-table-layout-003c11.htm so that section 17.5.2.1 can better be understood. [nightly-unstable] http://test.csswg.org/suites/css2.1/nightly-unstable/html4/fixed-table-layout-003c08.htm creates a situation where the cell in 1st column is overconstrained and it is not clear which value gets overriden. Firefox 13.0.1 says the width is 0px; Chrome 20.0.1132.47 reports that the width is -16px. Both do reduce the offsetWidth of the cell in first column in order to comply with the spec. It's definitely a weird, extreme test.
