Going back further into the discussion, I’d like to bring back the idea of using attr() fallback for the proposed `auto` behavior. If it turns out this is useful and prevalent, we can then talk later about giving it a name for ease of use. Perhaps we have just these three options? 1. Spec/implement `auto` and `match-element` 2. Spec/implement `match-element` only for now, and use `attr(id, match-element)` for the proposed auto functionality 3.
