Sorry I know this has been discussed a ton and I have said very little but it's because I haven't felt good about any of them and didn't really have any other ideas -- but... is there a possibility of using some synonym that is not so overloaded as visible/hidden? Like perceivable or revealed (or concealed if we go in the opposite direction) or something?
