Re: Utah State-Endorsed Digital Identity (SEDI) legislation

Yes, SEDI is a watershed in terms of a government recognizing that it does
not actually confer identity, only endorse it.

At a SEDI conference the week before the last Internet Identity Workshop
last October, 11 other U.S. states attended to learn more about this
approach. So we are hopeful it could catch on.

It is notable how SEDI contrasts with other government digital identity
wallet initiatives such as the EUDI. Those embrace (mostly) the citizen
being sovereign for the wallet, but depend heavily on the anchor credential
being a government-issued ID number.

They have been much slower to warm up to DIDs.
