Re: Decentralized Identifier and Verifiable Credentials Applications Community Group Launched

+1 to the concern that we’re already over scheduled and the distinction that they’re making needs IMHO clarification vis-a-vis the work of the VC-CG. They *may* have a worthwhile domain in mind, but so far it sounds more like they’re perhaps uninformed about the VC-CG. I’d prefer to see their group participate initially here, and then, if the interests they have are not well matched a stronger case might be made for something new.

Agreed, I’m concerned that it will add more confusion/onboarding hurdles to the already organization-laden ecosystem for newcomers, and would appreciate hearing from the chairs about their goals. There are likely ways to move forward constructively without adding to the noise.

The Chairs of the CCG are aware and are in process on a reach out. This is definitely duplicative work.

We would assume a best intention by default that there may not have been awareness of the CCG and current work items / work item process here.

Thanks Manu. Reading the description, I was thinking that exact same thing, that this basically describes the CCG..

Hmmm... :(

This (see attachment) seems like a bad idea given that the CCG
incubated both sets of technologies (and a variety of technologies in
the ecosystem) and is the main area (around W3C) where stuff like this
is discussed. Perhaps the Chairs can have a discussion with each of
these individuals to see why they felt like yet another group to
discuss applications of DIDs and VCs were necessary.
