Stepping Down as CCG Co-Chair

Hi Everyone,

I’m really grateful to have served as your co-chair alongside Kim, Heather, and Mike for a year and a half. Over the past few months, my ability to be directly involved as much as I would like to has rapidly dwindled due to my Spruce commitments, which grew far faster than I anticipated. I have discussed this with the co-chairs.

Therefore, I think the most responsible thing to do is to step down as co-chair, and I will be relinquishing my position immediately. This will make room for someone better equipped to spend time on CCG leadership to best serve the ecosystem, and I’m happy to share that there have been several candidates who have expressed interest. Regardless of what I have going on outside of CCG, it’s important to me that the ecosystem’s continued growth and wellbeing come first. I think that the ecosystem has been more cohesive than ever, the work items are increasing in quality, and we’re very close to some major breakthroughs towards mainstream adoption.

I intend to continue to contribute to the ecosystem, both individually and with Spruce. At Spruce, we have implemented emerging specifications from the CCG in Rust and have demonstrated interoperability with many of the ecosystem members. We have also authored multiple specifications as work items in the CCG, some with potential to introduce millions of users into the DID/VC ecosystem. There are no plans to stop our work, and if anything, we will sharply increase our resourcing to community efforts to ensure that development happens transparently and in the open. By focusing on this way of contributing to the community through work items, and making room for others to step up, I think the community will advance even faster.

Thanks everyone for having me as your co-chair, and I look forward to seeing you around the community!

Best,
- Wayne
