RE: Carbon credits VC

Interesting topic, and thanks for raising it.

I am working on a project on the Tezos blockchain called Angry Teenagers
<https://angryteenagers.xyz/> that aims to create an asset that does good
(offsets) on an ongoing basis. The carbon credit market is rife with fraud,
and low-quality credits. Legitimate attribution of carbon offsets is a real
problem. We’ve had some discussions with the team at the Cambridge Center
for Carbon Credits (4C) <https://4c.cst.cam.ac.uk/> who are interesting in
solving this problem too.

There are a number of standards for carbon sequestration, Verra
<https://verra.org/project/vcs-program/registry-system/> is seen as the
most legitimate — as you probably are familiar.

All this to say - that yes - I do think there’s value in representing
offsets (but also not only offsets, any positively green activity such as
reforestation, rewilding, or whatever may be measurable) using Verifiable
Credentials, and I’m happy to be involved!
