National Standard of Canada Under Development

Hello Credentials Community Group,
I am happy to share a brief update with you on the CIO Strategy Council's standards work related to digital credentials.
The Council's Standards Policy Committee approved the development of two new Parts to the series of national standards concerning digital identity, namely digital credentials and digital wallets, back in 2020. It tasked the Council's Technical Committee on Digital Trust and Identity to begin work on developing these new Parts as official Canadian standards<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.scc.ca%2Ffaq-what-is-a-national-standard-of-canada&data=04%7C01%7CKeith.Jansa%40ciostrategycouncil.com%7Cda8d5b0af41f490b59d208d8d533611c%7C5b4ed23f78bd447ca47b063ca724e30e%7C0%7C0%7C637493764065134366%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=7oMsRGBSJOQTlTczHsr%2FqAMX%2FKmLIfVZdyiUqxrmP2M%3D&reserved=0>. An open call for contributions into the work and for stakeholders to express interest in joining the expert drafting team to help shape the technical language of the standard followed.
Contributions from stakeholders and the expert drafting team have lead to a working draft. The draft is under review by the technical committee.
The national standard for digital credentials aims to stitch together the various ecosystems in the marketplace (e.g., W3C, ISO mDL, DTC, OIDC, etc.) to ensure interoperability across delivery platforms and systems.
We welcome your participation. See attached infographic for more information on the CIO Strategy Council's standards development process.
Best,
Keith
