Dear Colleagues,

Today, ACE and ED launched the Blockchain Innovation Challenge for applications.

  * The Education Blockchain Initiative<https://www.acenet.edu/Research-Insights/Pages/Education-Blockchain-Initiative.aspx>, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, seeks to explore both the opportunities and the risks of utilizing blockchain to empower learners and translate skills and educational experiences into economic opportunity.
  * Blockchain holds the unique potential to give learners, including the most underserved learners, control over their data and enable more seamless transitions from education to employment (and back) throughout their lives.
  * On June 8, the Education Blockchain Initiative released a research report<https://www.acenet.edu/Documents/ACE-Education-Blockchain-Initiative-Connected-Impact-June2020.pdf> on existing usage of blockchain in education as well as its potential to equitably expand economic opportunity. The research will inform a $900,000 Blockchain Innovation Challenge<https://www.acenet.edu/Research-Insights/Pages/Blockchain-Innovation-Challenge.aspx> to seed blockchain projects that have the potential to boost economic mobility. Organizations and individuals can learn more and express interest in the challenge on ACE’s website.
