Re: Privacy-protecting contact tracer for COVID-19? [was Re: A Moment of Silence #Foremembrance Today at 19:06 CET, 2:06 pm EDT, 11:06 am PDT, and Saturday at 2:06am in Hong Kong & Taipei]

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to provide an update on our effort to create a fast track
initiative for intelligent privacy-preserving contact tracing...

A) Things are moving quickly! We're meeting with an interested investor
tomorrow morning, we have some traction in one state and one country
without trying, and we have some running code that gives us a head start.

B) A number of RWOT participants have asked to help, so we've set up a
Zoom call on Monday for those who are willing to pitch in. This is going
to be a "front line" effort, so we don't have time for opinions. Please
let me know if you'd like to join the call and get to work - it's
important you are ready to contribute code or do some coding or help
with fundraising efforts in a somewhat selfless way. And I apologize in
advance to being bossy and cutting off opinionators, the working model
we seek is that of a cohesive self-optimizing team with a single captain.

We will be triaging an imperfect solution that would normally elicit a
lot of opinions, but I think our less than perfect app would be much
better than whatever Jared Kushner is planning to roll out through his
shadow committee, if we don't act now.

Also, if you're out of work because of the pandemic, there is likely
paid work for you in the future via this effort - so stay tuned.

C) You can download the current project overview here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/lg05fp5f2d2qxry/COVID-defender%20OVERVIEW.pdf?dl=0

The most important strategic move is to declare a two phase release,
with something good but not perfect, with vital features triaged, to be
deployable by early May. Phase II will contain the more visionary stuff
to deploy later in the year.

And what I'd like to do is form three workteams to brainstorm the
following short term components of the solution:

 1. Team 1 will focus on a "down payment on Verifiable Credentials" for
immunity management. This needs to include whether a user has
verifiable healthcare experience and can be tapped to support a
second line for relieving front line healthcare workers.
 2. Team 2 will focus on adapting DIDs into a global lightweight UUDID
so users can travel internationally and integrate contact reporting
in some clever way. Interoperability is vital because a patchwork
quilt of silo'ed contact tracers are already being deployed.
 3. Team 3 will require a number of security architects to review our
proposed AI/big data solution - we're going to try to detect
asymptomatic spreaders by analyzing the "wake" of a spreader or
superspreader through a social chain. Our team includes a number of
leaders in the AI/optimization/epidemiology space, but we need for
you to review what they come up with to insure it supports decent
privacy, at least for an application that would normally require
    intrusive methods.

My vision for a workteam is a strong lead, with a team of 3-5 action
oriented self-starters who can code quickly.

We're limiting the call to 20 participants and we're half full now. So
if you are ready to volunteer to work, please let me know you'd like to
join the call. We'll record it and distribute to everyone else.

Thanks and stay healthy out there!

Moses
