Name: Wendy Chisholm Email: chisholm.wendy@gmail.com Affiliation: Document: UW Item Number: Understanding Success Criterion 1.1.1 Part of Item: Techniques Comment Type: technical Summary of Issue: Suggestions to clarify \"media alternatives to text\" Comment (Including rationale for any proposed change): In \"Media, Test, Sensory\" it took me several readings of the criterion, intent, definitions, and techniques to understand how to parse the last phrase, \"or (5) a media alternative to text that is clearly labeled as such.\" Proposed Change: 2 suggestions: slight change in wording of the criterion and an added situation. A slight change in the wording of the criterion: If it is (1) synchronized media, (2) live audio-only or live video-only content, (3) a test or exercise that must be presented in non-text format, (4) primarily intended to create a specific sensory experience, then text alternatives at least provide descriptive identification of the non-text content , or (5) if it is a media alternative to text it is clearly labeled as such. Add another situation to the techniques. Situation G: If the non-text content is a media alternative to text: Gnn: Identifying media alternatives to text using a short text alternative technique listed below.
