My reply in Github to Julie’s comment: “I think what @julierawe<https://github.com/julierawe> has identified - the key different between the text in quotes in @rachaelbradley<https://github.com/rachaelbradley>'s post is the word presence and absence of "context." This is important. Is there a need for 2 outcomes instead of 1? Example: * One outcome could reference current location within a view, multi-step process... Essentially, the "you are here." * Another outcome could reference current location in relationship to a process - the context. This could include: knowing which step you are on in a multi-step process and total number of steps, if there are time-limits, goal, how to progress.” Jennie Delisi, MA, CPWA Enterprise IT Governance Coordinator | Customer Service Management Minnesota IT Services | Partners in Performance 658 Cedar Street St. Paul, MN 55155 O: 651-201-1135 Information Technology for Minnesota Government | mn.gov/mnit<http://mn.gov/mnit> [Minnesota IT Services Logo] [Facebook logo]<https://www.facebook.com/MN.ITServices>[LinkedIn logo]<https://www.linkedin.com/company/minnesota-it-services/>[Twitter logo]<https://twitter.com/mnit_services> From: Julie Rawe <jrawe@understood.org> Sent: Thursday, April 18, 2024 5:03 PM To: public-cognitive-a11y-tf <public-cognitive-a11y-tf@w3.org> Subject: Hi, COGA folks, your WCAG 3 action requested by EOD Monday, April 22nd This message may be from an external email source. This topic will be discussed at Tuesday's AG meeting, so please show your support in Github by EOD Monday, thanks! Background * AG spent several weeks sorting WCAG 3 outcomes<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XA5X9f9G5vmKJ7BiC7GCf8nWaCjnKGcSYrFd9ImWxc8/edit?pli=1>, regrouping them, and looking for overlapping outcomes that can be removed as duplicates. * AG wants to remove the "Multi-step process" outcome as a duplicate of the "Current location" outcome. Here is AG's one-sentence description for each: * "Multistep process: Provides context that orients the user in a site or multi-step process." * "Current location: The current location within the view, multi-step process, and aggregate is visually and programmatically indicated." * COGA's Clear Language team discussed these outcomes today and thinks "Current location" is too narrow for "Multi-step process" to be a duplicate. Your Github action requested by EOD Monday, April 22nd * AG's proposal to remove the "Multi-step process" outcome<https://github.com/w3c/wcag3/discussions/60#discussioncomment-9131447> * Click 👎 (thumbs-DOWN) * Julie's comment<https://github.com/w3c/wcag3/discussions/60#discussioncomment-9159610> (directly below) on why "Multi-step process" should not be removed * Click 👍 (thumbs-UP) * Reminder that you need to sign into Github or else you can't vote. * Feel free to add your own comments to this or any other part of this discussion thread.
