Greetings, I’m David Helfinstine, a software developer for PTC. I have been writing software for XML editors for the past 11 years for IBM and now for PTC. My focus has been on DITA. My interest in Change Tracking has come from working with the OASIS DITA TC and the OASIS DITA Technical Communication Subcommittee. Currently the PTC Arbortext Editor handles change tracking in two different ways. In SGML documents, PIs are used. But in XML documents such as Docbook and DITA a PTC specific namespace is used to represent the document changes. See Arbortext Change Tracking Markup Specification<http://www.arbortext.com/namespace/atict/change-tracking-markup-spec.html> for a publicly available write-up of Arbortext change tracking markup. It was written by a developer for developers, but it might give us some idea of some of the items to consider. I am looking forward to working with all of you. Thanks. - Dave H.
