Dear CDF working group. This is a comment on the W3C Working Draft Dated 09 August 2005 of "Compound Document Framework 1.0 and WICD Profiles" http://www.w3.org/TR/2005/WD-WICD-20050809/ My impression upon reading the specification was that the working group was not yet quite sure of the name of its technology. - The framework is name "compound document framework" - The profiles are named "web integration compound document" profiles. - content and documents following these profiles are called "WICD content" and "WICD document" in some sections of the spec. The latter, with the acronym expanded, sounds strange. Having a consistent naming would make it clearer that the profiles follow the framework, and that the documents conform to the profiles. This logical thinking is hindered with the confusing current naming. It is understood that there are several considerations at play, notably, I assume, the will to use the name of the WG as the specification name, and the will to have a "nice" specification acronym/shortname. While probably valid, these concerns should not have more weight than those of clarity and consistency. Suggestion: WICD framework, WICD profiles, and WICD content. regards, -- olivier
