Dear CDF working group. This is a comment on the W3C Working Draft Dated 09 August 2005 of "Compound Document Framework 1.0 and WICD Profiles" http://www.w3.org/TR/2005/WD-WICD-20050809/ Generally speaking, the specification is reaching its objective set for this first publication: give an overview of where the work is headed. The text is fairly pleasant to read already, and there seems to have been some effort made toward storytelling, illustration and examples. The group obviously put some thought in the questions of conformance, classes of products, normative versus informative content, and other QA-related topics. The sooner these are clarified the easier the development of the specification will be, and in this regard this first working draft is encouraging. It is my impression that the organization of the specification could be improved. I will send detailed comments on this issue separately. This is not abnormal for a first public working draft, and I trust the CDF WG will make progress in this area for the next working drafts. Regards, -- olivier
