Hi Franck, Yvan, Thanks for your responses. I would favour that we go ahead with the first version of Taxon and then extend it with the TaxonName and additional properties. Since its proposal, there have been several places where we are using the taxonomicRange property. That is the motivation for its inclusion in the first submission. In issue 309<https://github.com/BioSchemas/specifications/issues/309#issuecomment-495881544>, we agreed that we should create a second term TaxonName, and relate it with Taxon using two new properties: e.g. referenceName and synonym (exact wording to be discussed). Yet, using type TaxonName and the associated Taxon's properties would be optional. The current Taxon type specification works for cases where we describe names only using properties name and alternateName (the Taxon profile should be updated though). So, two options: - either we create the Taxon type now, and in a second round we add TaxonName + 2 properties for Taxon. - or we wait and we create both types only during the second round. What's best? Maybe the first option has the advantage of allowing for feed-back that can be taken into account later on ? Franck. As proposed at the face-to-face meeting, and agreed by the management group, we are aiming to push a small collection of types for inclusion into Schema.org<http://schema.org/>. We would like to make the submission to Schema.org<http://schema.org/> in the next few days, and plan to make another submission with more types in the next couple of months. Over the last 24 hours, I have updated the types and properties available on the draft types site to include the 7 types that we would like to include in the first release*. I have for now hidden the types that are not included in this release so as to avoid any confusion and to ensure that we don’t have dependencies on types that are not included. The types that are to be included are: BioChemEntity http://bio.sdo-bioschemas-227516.appspot.com/BioChemEntity BioSample http://bio.sdo-bioschemas-227516.appspot.com/BioSample ChemicalSubstance http://bio.sdo-bioschemas-227516.appspot.com/ChemicalSubstance Gene http://bio.sdo-bioschemas-227516.appspot.com/Gene MolecularEntity http://bio.sdo-bioschemas-227516.appspot.com/MolecularEntity Protein http://bio.sdo-bioschemas-227516.appspot.com/Protein Taxon http://bio.sdo-bioschemas-227516..appspot.com/Taxon<http://bio.sdo-bioschemas-227516.appspot.com/Taxon> (Please note that we have a limited quota on the google cloud platform where these are hosted and you may get a 500 error message when we have exceeded that quota. The quota gets reset every 24 hours.) We welcome your feedback on these types either as a response to this message on the mailing list or via the following GitHub issue https://github.com/BioSchemas/specifications/issues/321 Best regards Alasdair *The exclusion of a type within this first release does not mean that those types are any less important, we needed to ensure that we had a manageable amount for the release. -- Alasdair J G Gray Associate Professor in Computer Science, School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK.
